Pregnancy is an exciting time full of promise, but most women could do without symptoms such as back pain, headaches, nausea, and swollen feet—luckily, many of these conditions can be treated with massage. Touch has the power to heal, calm, and nurture relationships.

Christine Sutherland, co-founder of the Sutherland-Chan School and Teaching Clinic, teaches the basics of prenatal massage for healthy pregnancies. From the first trimester to postpartum recovery, Christine’s healing methods will help moms-to-be through every stage of pregnancy, including childbirth and breastfeeding. There’s even a chapter on the basics of baby massage, which new parents, grandparents, and siblings can use to relieve common infant conditions and bond with the new child.

Hundreds of photos and illustrations clearly illustrate techniques that even beginners can master. Christine also includes real-life stories that showcase how the power of massage helped women through their own pregnancy journeys.

If your partner or loved one is expecting, this book is for you.

“Christine’s book is an outstanding tool for pregnant women, their support people, and massage therapists alike. The narrative is interesting, and her massage instruction is eloquent and easy to follow.”

“I believe that anything is possible,” says Bo Hedges, from Dead Horse Creek Ranch, just north of Fort St John. Bo has always believed he was capable of great achievements. This documentary film will be a story about Bo, his family, his hometown of Fort St John, and how the community came together to support their star Paralympic Athlete. It will show many of the ways that Bo’s commitment to his sport has been supported by his hometown, resulting in Bo becoming a nationally competitive wheelchair basketball player. In return, his commitment to Fort St John is evident, and the film will capture that part of the story.

Bo Hedges sits with a Basketball overlooking Toronto

This documentary will show Bo as an extraordinary, influential person in the international Paralympic community. It will show this top-tier Paralympic Athlete in his role as Captain of Canada’s Paralympic Basketball team as he leads the team through the challenges and chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic. Bo’s story has medical significance, as well as the more obvious themes of community leadership and the enduring culture of inclusive sport. On a personal level, the film will show how Bo’s leadership kept the team trained, focused and optimistic about its performance in Tokyo, and beyond.

The film will show the strength of the Canadian Spirit via its focus on Bo and the entire Paralympic Basketball Team. Bo’s approach to motivation and encouragement of the Team will be inspirational to every level of the Canadian population. It will encourage everyone to focus on their dreams, regardless of the challenges that life has thrown in their path. It will demonstrate Bo’s commitment to the credo that “Anything is Possible”, and to his belief that the world is full of possibilities.

Christine Sutherland has teamed up with Ben Haab of Eagle Vision Video to create this collaborative Canadian documentary. Ben Haab’s Eagle Vision Video Productions Ltd is a video productions firm based in Fort St. John, with a broad base of video and graphics skills and services. The Oil and Gas Workplace is Unique

Employees of the Oil & Gas Industry are special people. They work long shifts and live away from home in work camps. The many jobs in front of computers in twelve-hour shifts are physically demanding.  The endurance of this administrative activity is taking its toll on the indoor workforce.  For outdoor staff, the weather conditions are extreme, physically demanding and wear and tear predictable. As well, living away from home is stressful in itself, and employees may not sleep as well, not exercise regularly, and tend not to have time to relax. This on site delivery creates a balance and rehabilitation for repeated strain syndromes found in the camp population whether they are in the culinary teams or the executive staff.

Common job related health issues that therapeutic massage therapy will remediate are:

o    Upper back stress pain
o    Tendonitis
o    Palmar fasciitis
o    Carpal tunnel syndrome
o    Neck pain
o    Lower back stress pain
o    Sciatica
o    Contracted iliotibial band
o    Headaches
o    Hip problems and Lumbago
o    Foot problems of all kinds
o    Generalized feelings of stress and anxiety

This is an innovative pilot project that will develop a protocol for a professional massage therapist to live on-site and be available when employees actually need treatment: immediately after or before a shift; or during the workday on the designated twenty-minute breaks.

For more information on these on site services, contact Christine Sutherland.
